Throughout a decade of practice—including with Fenwick & West, LLP, Downey Brand Attorneys, as a solo practitioner in Wyoming, and with humanitarian organizations—I gained valuable expertise in advocacy, especially for marginalized groups. Accomplishments include: serving as a state of Wyoming guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of minor youth impacted by court cases; prevailing in civil rights case against an oil company on behalf of American Indian employee subjected to race-based harassment and retaliatory termination; prevailing in a touchstone First Amendment lawsuit involving free speech and Internet anonymity; and aligning with the ACLU in amicus curiae brief on diversity in California textbooks.

NGO Coordination Centre liaison, Centre for Social Justice | Gujarat, India | February-August 2001

Served as investigator and liaison between donors and Tsunami-affected villages in South India; represented victims of 2001 Gujarat earthquake in seeking equitable (class, religion, and caste-blind) support from government and NGOs; helped draft state Disaster Management Code.

Engineer, Multiple Employers | CA | May 1992-April 2006

Undertook engineering and groundwater hydrology projects for public and private clients, including the Environmental Sciences Division of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, General Electric Nuclear Energy (GE), Accenture Consulting, Hewlett Packard, and municipalities and irrigation districts throughout the West; persuaded GE’s nuclear power plant administrators to adopt sustainable mixed waste management methods; involved in studies related to re-population of Marshall Islands following hydrogen bomb testing that ravaged them in the 1950s; conducted groundwater analysis proving that continued development in Las Vegas is not sustainable, resulting in Las Vegas Sun exposé; helped develop a compound that detected byproducts of nuclear arms manufacturing in downstream water.
